CHITRA RAGHAVAN
Professor of Psychology
Director, MA Program in Forensic Mental Health Counseling


Dr. Raghavan obtained her doctorate in Clinical and Community Psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and did her postdoctorate training at Yale University. She is currently a full professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Director of the Forensic Mental Health Counseling Program. She conducts research on coercive control and trauma bonding in intimate partner abuse, sexual assault, sex trafficking, and cult contexts. She has authored over 60 scientific articles and two books. She is an active researcher, practicing psychologist and deemed an expert by the courts. Her work has created case law in New York.
