Sanctuary for Families is New York’s leading service provider and advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking, and related forms of gender violence. Position Summary: The IT Intern will provide valuable support to the IT department at Sanctuary for Families, Inc. This internship offers a unique opportunity for an intern interested in gaining practical experience in a nonprofit environment while contributing to the organization’s mission. It could also be an opportunity for a retired person to become involved with SFF. The intern will assist with various IT-related tasks, including technical support, system maintenance, and software troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting support to staff members.
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Respond to user inquiries and help desk tickets, as assigned, promptly and professionally.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to conduct routine system maintenance tasks, such as updates, backups, and patches.
  • Assist in inventory management, including tracking IT assets, monitoring supplies, and organizing equipment.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of information security protocols and practices.
  • Participate in IT projects as assigned, including researching and evaluating new technologies.
  • Document IT processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides to facilitate knowledge sharing.

Qualifications:

  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Basic understanding of network concepts and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other common software applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn, with a proactive approach to tasks and responsibilities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs.

Work hours and location:

  • Our proposed Summer Internship dates are June 3rd – July 26th with flexibility to start in May and extend into August based upon the student’s schedule and team needs.
  • Work schedule will be set according to tasking and can be flexible.
  • On-site work preferred at the MO in lower Manhattan, with some remote work possible.
  • Summer or Fall rolling start date possible.
