Your support helps break the cycle of violence

Maria was a child when she first saw her father hit her mother, and was only 14 when she met her abuser in her hometown of Puebla, Mexico. By the age of 20, she had fled in fear to New York, hoping desperately that she would one day reunite with her two small children whom she had been forced to leave with her mother in Mexico.

With Sanctuary’s support, Maria was able to secure asylum for her and her children and rebuild their lives free from violence. Every year, we help thousands of survivors like Maria move from fear and abuse to safety and stability.
