Thank you for volunteering with Sanctuary’s Uncontested Divorce (UD) Pro Bono Screening Project!  Survivors who would like to obtain an uncontested divorce with assistance from Sanctuary and our Law School Uncontested Divorce clinic must first have a phone screening with an attorney, who collects relevant client and case information and who helps the client determine if they are eligible to file for an uncontested divorce in New York.    This resource page contains materials and information for pro bono attorneys volunteering with the UD Screening Project and conducting these client screening calls.

The phone screenings take approximately one hour to complete so please set aside the appropriate amount of time to complete the intake form with the client and make any follow-up notes for the Sanctuary attorney.  When the intake form is complete please email the form to mmorillo@sffny.org with the subject line “UDP Referral.”

Throughout your pro bono representation this Portal page will be the most important tool that you can rely on. It includes resources for (i) Uncontested Divorces and (ii) Uncontested Divorces by Alternate Service (Publication Divorce).

Please thoroughly review the appropriate Manual and use it throughout the process to guide you through the handling of an uncontested divorce under a Sanctuary attorney’s supervision.

This page houses all sample documents that you will need for the divorce. However, always have your Sanctuary attorney review your draft documents before filing. Please be sure to send the drafts with adequate time to review before filing.
