Meet our Honorees

For more information about Sanctuary’s Volunteer Program, please contact Jessica Francois, Manager of Volunteer Relations.

Every year, Sanctuary partners with over 2,500 volunteers, interns, and pro bono attorneys to provide direct services to nearly 9,000 adult and child survivors of gender-based violence. We are proud to engage volunteers in a range of activities; from children’s tutoring to translation services, interview preparation with clients to organizing drives to provide necessary in-kind donations to our shelters.

2021 “Pillars of Change” honorees:

Respond Crisis Translations: For their phenomenal partnership with Sanctuary providing hundreds of hours of translation services.

Isabelle Demenge: For her exceptional leadership and support of Sanctuary’s Incarcerated Gender Violence Survivor Initiative.

Cynthia Polk-Allen: For her incredible commitment teaching and tutoring within Sanctuary’s Economic Empowerment Program.

Danielle Krupa: For several years of steadfast support through her non-profit, Moms for Moms NYC, providing Newborn Baby Bundles and Postpartum Recovery Bundles to Sanctuary clients.

Melody Kimmel: For her pro bono services as a presentation and media trainer for those speaking at Sanctuary’s annual benefit.

All of us at Sanctuary send our deepest appreciation to each and every one of you who so generously give your support in many ways.
